AMA DABLAM BASE CAMP TREK

The Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek is a 9-day adventure exploring the Khumbu and Everest regions of Nepal. This trek takes you to the foothills of the stunning Himalayas at Mount Ama Dablam, combining Sherpa and Sherpa culture exploration with Everest Base Camp hiking trails. After a few days of trekking along the Everest Base Camp hiking route, we then head eastwards as we reach Tengboche (or Thyangboche) Monastery. ACCLIMATIZATION TO ALTITUDE
In order to get the most out of your trek and stay safe, it is important to follow the acclimatization instructions. At Makalu Adventure, whenever possible we follow the acclimatization formula set out by Drs Jim Duff and Peter Gormly; wild medicine experts. "Altitude sickness is possible above 2000m and becomes common above 2500m."
"As a rough guide, above 2500m the maximum daily elevation gain between sleep altitudes should not exceed 400m, with a rest day every third day or after every 1000m of sleep ascent".
"When acclimatizing avoid overexertion and shortness of breath, stay well hydrated, avoid alcohol, excess caffeine, salt and protein, your diet should be 70% carbohydrates above 3500m".
