The trek starts from the picturesque town of Sonamarg located in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir and takes the trekkers through several high mountain passes including Nichnai Pass, Gadsar Pass and the highest point of the trek, Satsar Pass.
One of the highlights of the trek is the opportunity to camp at the pristine alpine lakes that cover the route, including Vishansar Lake, Krishansar Lake, Gadsar Lake and Gangbal Lake.
