HIGHEST MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE

The highest mountain bike race is organized by Makalu Adventure Nepal, a company renowned for its expertise in high mountain adventure sports. During the race, competitors will have a unique opportunity to explore Tibet's rich cultural heritage and visit some of the region's oldest monasteries located in the historic cities of Lhasa, Gyantse and Shigatse. In addition to cultural attractions, participants will traverse a route that includes stunning natural landscapes, particularly exemplified by Yamdrok Tso, a remarkably beautiful lake that captures the essence of Tibet's breathtaking scenery.     Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by your travel representatives and assisted with your transfer to a luxurious three-star hotel.     The second day is dedicated to a comprehensive guided tour of the Kathmandu Valley. You will explore iconic sites such as Swayambhunath, known as the Monkey Temple, and the ancient Durbar Square, learning about the significance of these sites from experienced guides.

    The following day is filled with a guided tour of Lhasa, visiting key cultural and historical monuments. You will immerse yourself in the local culture and spirituality and gain a deeper appreciation for Tibetan Buddhism.

    Day 6 begins your cycling tour. You will start the ride, which will cover approximately 86 kilometers, before setting up the overnight camp. This section of the journey will allow you to experience the rugged beauty of the Tibetan landscape firsthand.

    Kamba La Pass. Camp after 56 km

    On the seventh day, your adventure continues with the ascent of Kamba La Pass. After an exciting ride of 56 kilometers, you will find a suitable place to spend the night, surrounded by the amazing natural scenery that embodies this alpine region.

    Continue and camp before Karo pass

    The eighth day involves more cycling as you continue your journey and reach the camp which is just before the Karo Pass. This stage of the tour provides an opportunity to appreciate the diverse terrains and landscapes that define the Tibetan Plateau.

    Karo Pass to Gyangtse. Gyantse 86 kms. Overnight at Hotel

    Drive from Karo Pass to Gyangtse covering a distance of 86 kilometers. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel for an overnight stay, allowing you to relax and recover from a day on the bike while soaking up the local culture.

    Gyangtse to Shigatse. Shigatse 106 kms. Overnight at Hotel

    The journey continues from Gyangtse to Shigatse, which is 106 kilometers long. The day offers stunning views and the opportunity to engage with local communities along the route. You will spend the night in a hotel in Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet.

    Continue and camp after 75 km

    Your cycling adventure continues, you will continue for a distance of 75 kilometers, culminating in another camping experience in the middle of breathtaking surroundings. This day allows for reflection and enjoyment of the tranquility of the Tibetan landscape.

    Continue and camp after Lhatse 95 km

    The 95-kilometer drive to Lhatsa takes you to the next campsite, where you will once again enjoy the beauty of your surroundings, underscoring the remote yet captivating nature of your journey.

    Continue. Shegar 80 kms. Overnight at Hotel

    After a drive of 80 kilometers, you will reach Shegar, where you will spend the night at a hotel. This stop will offer a well-deserved rest and an opportunity to recharge your batteries before continuing your adventure.

    Continue. Pang La Pass. Camp after 65 km

    This day you will cycle to Pang La Pass and set up camp after covering a distance of 65 kilometers. The day trip is marked by amazing views and the joy of passing through important passes.

    Continue to Rongbuk. Camp after 35 km

    The return journey to Rongbuk involves a 35 kilometer cycle where you will camp for the night. The area is known for its proximity to the base of Mount Everest, which heightens the anticipation of what lies ahead.
