Introduction
North India is defined by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Geological Survey of India and the Ministry of Culture as the northern part of the country. This region includes the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan, as well as the union territories of Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Chandigarh.
