HALESI MAHADEV TOUR

The Halesi Mahadev Temple is of great importance to both Hindus and Buddhists and serves as a prominent spiritual site in Nepal. Although it remains relatively unexplored by tourists, it is a popular destination among locals. Halesi Mahadev Temple, often referred to as Pashupatinath in eastern Nepal, is considered one of the oldest and holiest sites in the country. Nestled amidst hilly terrain, the temple is flanked by the Dudh Koshi and Sunkoshi rivers. Perched atop a small hill in a picturesque cave, the temple is surrounded by several other enchanting caves.

There are three mysterious caves which are believed to represent the three eyes of Lord Shiva. In the first cave we come across an image of Lord Shiva known as Haleshwar Mahadev. The second cave houses an image of Nandi. Halesi Temple is located in the Khotang district of eastern Nepal and is set in a picturesque hilly area full of natural splendor.

The Maratika Caves hold great significance in Buddhism as they are believed to be a sacred place of power associated with Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche). According to Buddhist teachings, Guru Padmasambhava and his consort Mandarava are said to have attained immortality at this place through the blessings of Buddha Amitayus. The Maratika Caves have been mentioned in Tibetan literature since the 12th century and their importance is further emphasized in the "Sanglingma", a biography of Padmasambhava discovered by Nyang Ral Nyima ร–ser. This original event described in the Kathang cemented the Maratika Caves as a revered and sacred place for Buddhists.
