LANGTANG TREK & TSERKO RI

The Langtang Valley boasts a wide array of attractions, including expansive forests, diverse wildlife, alpine meadows, vibrant wildflowers, glaciers, and numerous 7000m peaks, all conveniently located within driving distance of Kathmandu. While it is possible to complete this trek in a shorter amount of time, it is highly recommended to ascend gradually in order to ensure safety and fully appreciate the experience.
Embark on your journey with a scenic jeep or coach ride along the Trishuli River towards the Tibetan border and the charming village of Syabrubesi. The road is continuously being upgraded, with much of it now featuring two lanes. The first day offers two trekking options to Lama Hotel: a lower trail following the river or a higher trail that involves a steep climb before contouring above the forest, each with its own unique appeal.
On the second day, some trekkers continue from Lama Hotel to Langtang village at 3430m, but it is advisable to take a break at Ghoratabela (3030m) to acclimate to the altitude. Beyond this point, the landscape transforms as you leave the forest behind and the majestic peaks come into sight. After crossing the significant rock-slide caused by the earthquake in 2015, you will reach the newly rebuilt Langtang village, complete with a striking stupa, modern lodges, and shops. As you progress from Langtang, the valley widens further, offering even more breathtaking views, and by midday, you will arrive at Kyanjin Gompa at 3830m. Take a day to rest here and allow your body to adjust to the thin air. A short walk to the Gompa, Nak cheese factory, and coffee shop is recommended to aid in the acclimatization process.
The trek's highlights are experienced in the next two days. Initially, an acclimatizing climb of Kyanjin Ri (4300m) followed by the main goal, Tserko Ri at nearly 5000m. Tserko Ri should not be hurried, take it slowly, slowly(Bistari!,bistari!!). At the summit, the oxygen level is around 50% compared to sea level! You might feel a bit out of breath, but the breathtaking Himalayan panorama makes it all worthwhile. Towards the west, you'll spot snow-capped Langtang II (6596m) and the rarely climbed Langtang Lirung (7227m); to the north Changbu (6251m), Yubra (6264m), and Dagpachen (6567m); and to the south Baden Powell Peak (5826m), among others!
The journey back, all downhill, only takes a couple of days but the views are equally stunning; a chance to unwind in Syabrubesi before heading back to Kathmandu. Langtang is a truly magnificent Himalayan valley, I'm certain you'll be captivated by it.
