Introduction
Situated in Tibet, the Mount Kailash region is a sacred site for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bonpas. At the center of this region is Mount Kailash, which is thought to be the dwelling place of Lord Shiva in Hinduism and symbolizes the cosmic axis in Buddhist beliefs. Every year, thousands of pilgrims come here to perform kora, which is the act of walking around Mount Kailash. This journey is challenging physically but offers spiritual rewards, as devotees seek blessings and enlightenment along the way. The area also features breathtaking natural scenery, including clear lakes like Lake Manasarovar and a variety of wildlife. There are ongoing efforts to preserve this unique ecosystem while still allowing pilgrims to engage in their spiritual practices in this ancient and mystical setting.
