GHOREPANI POONHILL TREK

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a remarkable journey through lush landscapes, culturally rich villages and towering Himalayan peaks in the Annapurna region of Nepal. This trek takes 10 days depending on pace and itinerary. Trekkers start from the charming town of Pokhara and reach the trailhead at Nayapul. The trek gradually climbs through charming villages like Tikhedhunga, Ulleri and Ghorepani and finally leads to the summit of the trek – Poon Hill.

The trek begins in Pokhara where you can soak in the serene beauty of Phewa Lake before heading to Nayapul. The initial stretch of the trek takes you through terraced fields, pristine rivers and dense forests and finally leads to Tikhedhunga, a small village that serves as an overnight stop.

The steep climb up the stone steps from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Along the way, you'll meet local villagers who are often engaged in agriculture, adding a cultural dimension to your wanderings. Upon arrival in Ghorepani, you will find accommodation and an opportunity to rest and recharge.

The most awaited moment of the trek is the early morning ascent to Poon Hill (3,210 meters) where you will be treated to a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. After soaking up the views, return to Ghorepani for breakfast before continuing the trek.  Continue the journey and the trail leads to Ghandruk, a picturesque Gurung village known for its stone houses and rich cultural heritage. Here you can explore traditional houses and experience the warm hospitality of the Gurung community. The last day takes you back to Nayapul, where the trek ends.
