    Arrive Paro

    From the left side of the plane, passengers will see Mt. Everest and other famous Himalayan mountains. Arrival at Paro International Airport, meet Bhutanese friend and transfer to hotel.

    PARO SIGHTSEEING

    The itinerary includes a visit to Drugyal Dzong, a ruined fort, Kyichu Lhakhang Temple, National Museum, Paro Rimpong Dzong, a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse, Paro town and a typical Bhutanese farmhouse. Built in 1646 AD, the Dzong is significant to Bhutan's history as a battleground against the Tibetan invasion. The day also includes a visit to Mt. Jhomolhari and Kyichu Lhakhang, sacred to Buddhism.

    PARO - A Day EXCURSION TO TAKTSHANG MONASTERY

    Visit the Taktsang Monastery, known as the 'Tiger's Nest', located on a 4000 feet high granite rock in Paro town. Guru Padma Sambhava is believed to have meditated there in the 8th century. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Taktsang Cafe. Overnight at Paro Hotel.

    PARO - A Day EXCURSION TO HAA VALLEY AND DRIVE BACK VIA CHELLELA PASS

    Visit Haa Valley, a recently opened tourist town, drive back to Chellela Pass, enjoy a picnic lunch, walk to Chellela Monastery and overnight at Paro Hotel.

    PARO - THIMPHU

    The itinerary includes a visit to Simtokha Dzong, one of Bhutan's oldest forts, and Tashichho Dzong, the main secretariat building. Lunch is at the hotel in Thimphu. Afternoon includes visit to Memorial Chorten, Mini Zoo, Sangeygang, Zulikha Monastery, School of Crafts and Wood Painting, Handicraft Trade Center and National Library. The trip ends at a hotel in Thimphu.

    THIMPHU -GANGTEY VALLEY

    It takes about 6 hours to reach the Gangtey Valley, an amazing valley at an altitude of 3000 m through the Dochula Pass. Stop at Dochula Pass for tea, refreshments and a stunning view of the snow-capped mountains of the Eastern Himalayas and Gasa Dzong. Enjoy lunch at Punakha or Wangdue Phodrang and overnight at a hotel in the Gangtey Valley.

    GANGTEY VALLEY - BUMTHANG

    The journey starts in Bumthang, we pass through the Pelela pass and enjoy the magnificent view of the Himalayan mountains. Lunch is at Chendebji. Visit Trongsa Dzong, the ancestral home of the royal family, and Ta Dzong. Lunch is at Trongse. The journey continues to the Bumthang Valley, where guests can enjoy hospitality at farms or guesthouses.

    BUMTHANG SIGHTSEEING

    Explore Bumthang village, visit Jambay Lhakhang, Kurje Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang and Kuenshusum Lhakhang, have lunch at guesthouse, visit Jakar Dzong, drive to Member (Tsho) burning and stay overnight at Bumthang.

    BUMTHANG - MONGAR

    After breakfast, drive to Mongar, enjoy a packed lunch, drive through Bumthang, explore the Ura Valley and see typical Bhutanese farmhouses before staying overnight in Mongar.

    MONGAR – TRASHIYANGTSE

    The drive from Mongar to Trashiyangtse in Bhutan offers a scenic drive through the Eastern Himalayas with winding roads, steep cliffs and breathtaking views. A small town with traditional Bhutanese architecture and cultural heritage, Trashiyangtse offers visitors the opportunity to explore the Trashi Yangtse Dzong and local handicraft shops.

    TRASHIGANG - SAMDRUP JONGHAR

    After breakfast visit Mongar Dzong, a small dzong from 1953 with 50-60 monks including young boys. Visit Trashigang Dzong, built in 1667 by Mingyur Tenpa, a tall outcrop overlooking the Drangme Chu and Gamri Chu rivers. Take pictures with nomadic herders and visit a nearby village. Overnight in a camp or on a farm.

    TRASHIGANG - SAMDRUP JONGKHAR

    Visit the University of Bhutan at Samdrupjongkhar, a center for women's weaving, and observe Bhutanese birds along the way. Overnight at a hotel in Samdrupjongkhar.

    SAMDRUP JONGKHAR - INDIAN ESTATE OF ASSAM (GUAHATI) for departure

    Drive to Bhutan Gate (Bhutan Border) early in the morning and your Bhutanese friends from Makalu Adventure will see you off as you start your journey back home.
