Arrive Paro and transfer to Hotel
A traveler from the plane can see a magnificent view of Mount Everest and other famous Himalayan mountains including Jhomolhari and Jichu Drake mountains in Bhutan during the journey. Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be met by your Bhutanese representative from Makalu Adventure and driven to the capital city of Thimphu. Lunch at the hotel. Discuss the tour program with your guide. Overnight: Hotel in Thimphu.
2THIMPHU - PUNAKHA
After breakfast, we will drive through the Dochula pass to Punakha, where we can admire the Higher Himalayas. We will visit Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngwang Namgyal, located between Pho Cho and the Male River. The Dzong was built by Guru Rimpoche, who foretold that Namgjal would arrive on a hill resembling an elephant. Architect Zowe Palep was inspired by this vision and designed a new Dzong, which was never completed. Punkha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpa, and King Jigme Dorii Wangchuk convened a new national assembly in 1952. We will then drive to Wangdi Phodrang to visit the Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the "Temple of Fertility", built by the Lama. Drukpa. Kuenley in the 15th century. We will visit Wangdiphodrang Dzong, built in 1638, where legend has it that when people were looking for this place, four ravens were seen flying away.
3PUNAKHA – THIMPHU
After breakfast, drive back to Thimphu and visit Tashichho Dzong, built in 1641 by Shabdrung Namgyal and renovated in 1961 by the late King Jiqme Dorji Wangchuck. Visit the National Library, known for its ancient Buddhist manuscripts, and the Gasp School of Carving and Freehand Art. Visit the National Chorten Memorial, dedicated to the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, and the Handicraft Center for traditional crafts and textiles. Overnight at a hotel in Thimphu.
4THIMPHU – PARO
After breakfast, drive to Paro and visit Simtokha Dzong, Drukgyel Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang, Rimpung Dzong (Paro Dzong), Taa Dzong and National Museum of Bhutan Taa Dzong. Visit Simtokha Dzong, built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1627, Drukgyel Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang and Rimpung Dzong (Paro Dzong) where the administrative offices are located. Visit Taa Dzong, an ancient watchtower, and drive two hours to Thimphu. Overnight at a hotel in Paro.
5PARO – PARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FOR DEPARTURE
Then depart for Paro International Airport early in the morning and a Bhutanese friend from Makalu Adventure will accompany you on the way home to say goodbye.
